AUGUST 18 - 21 Erwin lake, CA
Back in the 1850s, during the Gold Rush, Erwin Lake was a hotspot for prospectors and miners who were trying to strike it rich. The lake got its name from William Erwin, a guy who built a cabin nearby and was one of the first settlers in the area.
|
Around the lake, there were several mines, and many of the miners lived in a small community that popped up as they worked the land.

AUGUST 16 -18 Lake hemet, CA
Lake Hemet is a stunning lake in the San Jacinto Mountains, and it has a pretty interesting history. Long before anyone else showed up, the Cahuilla Native Americans were the first to discover the lake, using it as a source for food and water.
|
When American settlers came along in the 1800s, they started using the lake to help with irrigation and farming. It also attracted gold miners looking to strike it rich. The lake's story is really intertwined with the westward expansion of the U.S. and the California Gold Rush, making it a significant spot in the region's history.

Temescal Canyon is a scenic canyon located in the Santa Monica Mountains of California. The area has a rich history that stretches back thousands of years, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Native American tribes that lived in the area.
|
In the 1800s, the canyon became a popular spot for settlers and prospectors, and a number of homesteads and mines were established in the area. The canyon was named Temescal, which is derived from the word "temāzcalli," a Nahuatl word that means "house of sweat." This name referred to the Native American sweat lodges that were once common in the area.

The Graber House in Ontario California is a historic property with a rich history and a unique story. The property was first purchased by Jacob Graber in 1894, and he began planting olive trees on the land. Over the years, the Graber House Olives became known for their large size and delicious flavor, and the Graber family continued to cultivate and harvest the olives for many generations.
|
One of the unique features of the Graber House Olives is their curing process. Unlike most olives, which are cured in brine, the Graber House Olives are dry-cured, which gives them a firm texture and a slightly nutty flavor. This unique curing process has been passed down through the Graber family for over a century.

The Panamint Mountains are a range of rugged and beautiful peaks located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. The range stretches for over 100 miles and reaches elevations of over 11,000 feet at its highest point. The area surrounding the Panamint Mountains is rich in history and has played a significant role in the development of the American west.
The Cahuilla Native American tribe was the first known inhabitants of the Panamint Mountains and surrounding areas. The tribe lived in the region for thousands of years. |
In the 1800s, American settlers began to arrive in the area and started mining for gold and other valuable minerals.
As the westward expansion of the United States continued, the Panamint Mountains became an important transportation corridor. The Old Spanish Trail, a trade route that connected Santa Fe to Los Angeles, passed through the mountains, as did the famous 20-Mule Team Borax wagons, which transported borax from the mines in Death Valley to the railhead in Mojave. |
